➡️ Thinking about bringing the gym to you with a treadmill? It’s a convenient choice for getting your daily dose of cardio, all from the comfort of your home.🤩
But with so many treadmills on the market, finding the “best commercial treadmill in India” can feel overwhelming. Don’t worry, we’re here to help!
In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to consider to choose the right treadmill for your fitness goals, budget, and space.
Make sure you buy the right treadmill based on your weight, your height, your preferred activity (whether it is walking, jogging, or running), and how much space you have in your house.
Let me help you decide.

---|---|---|---|---|

➡️ First, you have to decide what type of treadmill you need.
If you have a lot of space in your house and can keep the treadmill open at all times, then you don’t need to consider a foldable treadmill.
But if you are short on space, you can consider a horizontal foldable treadmill.
A horizontal foldable treadmill can be pushed under a bed or a sofa when not in use. Typically, horizontal foldable treadmills are less powerful than the others and are mostly used for walking or light jogging.😀
Once you have decided on the type, you have to determine the maximum weight the treadmill supports.
Most treadmills support a range between 90 to 125 kgs for walking. If you plan to use it for running, you must reduce 20 to 30 kgs from the maximum weight.
For example, if your weight is around 90 kgs and you want to use the treadmill for running, then you have to buy a treadmill that supports a maximum weight of at least 110 to 120 kgs.
✅ The treadmills that support higher weights are more EXPENSIVE.
You need to decide the maximum speed supported by the treadmill.
Typical walking speeds are 4 to 7.5 km per hour, typical jogging speeds can be between 7 to 9 km per hour, and typical running speeds go up to 12 to 14 km per hour.
So if you’re using your treadmill mainly for walking, a treadmill with speed up to 8 km per hour is sufficient.
For jogging, up to 10 km per hour is sufficient, and for running, you need the higher speed ones.
⚡⚡ The most common home treadmill is a DC motor, which supports continuous running for about 30 to 40 minutes, after which it needs to be rest.
This is good enough for home use.
For commercial use, where the treadmill will be run for longer periods of time, a treadmill with an AC motor is a must.
All treadmills compared today are for home use and therefore are DC motors.
➡️ Two measures are typically there: continuous horsepower and peak horsepower.
If you are using the treadmill for running, consider getting a treadmill with at least 2 horsepower in continuous mode or 4 horsepower in PEAK mode.🗻
The next important consideration is the area of running or the running belt.
Why is this important? If you are taller, you may have longer strides for running and therefore you need a bigger running area. Look for a minimum of the regions listed on the screen based on your preferred activities.
Now, if you like to add more intensity to your walk or your run, an incline of the treadmill is quite handy.
High-end models of treadmills have an automatic incline which will adjust up to 15% incline.
The automatic incline is also good to have if you plan to use the treadmill intensively or if different people in your family will be using it.
Most horizontal foldable treadmills do not have an incline.😀
The majority of treadmills have an LED display with touch or button controls, and the foldable models also come with a remote. Some also allow connectivity via a phone through Bluetooth.
From a warranty point of view, most brands have a 1-year warranty on the product with an additional warranty on the motor and the frame.
Lifelong Fit Kit by Cult, Max Pro 2, and Power Max give additional warranties on the frame.
Remember that you do need to lubricate the treadmill periodically for optimal running. You can either do it yourself or request for service at an additional cost.
Pricing is normally in three ranges.
➡️ Treadmills which are good for walking or light jogging are available under Rs 20,000. These are mostly compact and can be folded horizontally under a sofa or a bed.
These typically do not have an incline or a manual incline, have lower horsepower, lower maximum weight supported, and lower maximum speeds.
Treadmills that are good for jogging or light running are available between 20 to 30,000.
✅ Mostly these also have a manual incline, up to 14 km per hour running speeds, and have motors supporting up to 4 horsepower. Premium treadmills that support much higher speed and much higher weight with much more horsepower are available upwards of 30,000.
There are a lot more treadmills above the 40,000 range which I have not included in this comparison, as in the up to 40,000 range you will get a great treadmill for home use.
Based on all of this, here are my best treadmill recommendations for home use:
My first recommendation for the best treadmill for running, jogging, and walking is the Fit Kit by Cult.
It has a large running area suitable for running, an automatic incline, 5 horsepower peak motor capacity, and a maximum running speed of 16 km per hour.
It supports a max user weight of 110 kg for walking and approximately 85 to 90 kg for running.
This treadmill should work for most people under 90 kg in weight and those needing to use a treadmill for running. In addition to the treadmill, you also get to experience the Cult online training for up to 3 months.
For up to 100 kgs in weight, you can consider the Durafit Heavy treadmill (Price: 37k) which has almost the same capabilities as the Fit Kit by Cult but with an extra supported user weight of 100 kgs.
Now, if you are looking for a horizontal foldable treadmill or under-desk treadmill, then I have two recommendations for you.
If you plan to use it only for walking, then you can consider the Lifelong treadmill (Price: 12k) you see on the screen at a budget price of under 14,000. 💰
This supports a maximum user weight of 110 kg for walking. Since it has a smaller belt size, a motor capacity of only 2 horsepower, and a maximum speed of 8 km per hour, it can predominantly be used only for walking. Remember, this model does not have an incline option.
The biggest benefit of this is that it is so sleek it can slide under your bed or the sofa when folded. The height is typically less than 3 inches, but remember you do need to unscrew the handle to collapse it down.
It also comes with a remote to control the speed of the treadmill.
⚡⚡ If you would like to do light jogging with a foldable treadmill, then I recommend the Power Max Jog Pad. (Price: 24k💰) Like most horizontal foldable treadmills or under-desk treadmills, this does not have an incline. ⚡⚡
It supports a maximum user weight of 100 kg for walking and 75 to 80 kg for running.
But remember, although this supports a maximum speed of 12 km per hour which is ideal for running, it does have a small belt area and a 3 horsepower motor, so it is not very comfortable for running, especially for tall people who have longer strides.
Unlike the Lifelong treadmill, the Power Max Jog Pad is easier to collapse using a lever.
Thank you for reading.😀
There are two main types: motorized and manual.
Before you swipe that credit card, consider asking yourself these questions. Do you want to walk for leisure, train for a marathon, or fit some exercise into your busy day?
Think about space too. Folding treadmills are great for smaller areas, while sturdier non-folding ones might be better for intense workouts.
It depends! Here’s a quick breakdown:
While treadmills are a leisure way to get your exercise fix indoors, they might not be suitable for everyone. People with balance issues or existing joint pain could find the moving belt and impact a bit too much for their bodies. Especially if they have any pre-existing health conditions.
The amount of electricity a treadmill uses depends all upon the motor’s horsepower and how long you use it. But generally, they use about as much electricity as a toaster. So, you can sweat it out without sweating about your electricity bill!
